Trials?

Life is full of them. Trials. Storms. Sufferings. Hardship. You get the picture. And it’s during this time that many of us question God’s love for us. ‘If God really loved me…’ we say within ourselves. After all, He can do anything. He can change anything. So why am I going through this difficulty? I won’t even pretend to have the answer to that. I’ve asked the question myself many a time. I do know that God can bring good out of the situation if we keep on trusting, keep on believing. And as hard as trials can be, our character is changed. We become stronger. Our faith is strengthened. We learn to hang onto hope. One verse that I’ve clung to in the hard times is Psalm 16:8. Listen to this in the amplified version. ‘I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.’ Is that a WOW verse or what?! If we set the Lord before us (keep our eyes on Him at all times) the trials we’re going through will have little power over us. We won’t worry. Try to figure things out. Try to make sense of them. Question God’s goodness or love. We’ll just trust Him. We don’t have to be moved into the land of despair (which is where the devil wants us), we won’t be moved ~ we’ll just be fixed on the Lord. We’ll give the situation over to Him to work out in His time & in His way. Selah (pause, and calmly think of that)!

Who rules your life?

In the book of Luke, chapter ninteen, verse fourteen, it reads…”we do not want this man to become ruler over us.” Though this verse did not refer to Jesus specifically, it really made me think of how we are still saying that today concerning Jesus’ rule over us. We want to be our own boss. We don’t want anyone telling us what to do. We want to be the boss of our lives ~ even though we do a pretty messed up job of it! My life didn’t even begin to make sense or be right until I let Jesus be Lord of my life. And I must confess that I don’t always let Him be the boss. Sometimes I want my way and I will press forward with my way regardless, then suffering with a lack of peace because I know that I’ve once again disobeyed the Lord. When will (I) we learn?! Notice how this world is getting crazier and crazier? Could it be because we’ve turned our back on God? We’ve refused to let Him be the boss of our lives? We’ve disobeyed His will? He cannot bless our disobedience! God made us. He knows what is best for us. He’s not trying to ‘rain on our parade,’ but He does know better than we do! I wonder if it’s too late for America to turn back to God? We can only hope that it isn’t…

during trials…

God’s Word says we are to count it all joy! Imagine! How in the world can we do that?! Easy! (not!!) No, really, the only way is to see the trial we’re experiencing through God’s eyes. See it as an opportunity to trust God yet more. To let Him have one more inch of our crummy flesh. To understand that He will use the trial for our good and His glory if we will but let Him. To learn patience. To learn to praise Him even when it makes no sense. To learn to walk by faith and not by sight. To learn to say no to the devil. Shall I go on? There are heaps of benefits for us when we learn to embrace trials not as our enemy, but as our friend. No need to fret! God is good & He is in control! Believe it! Believe Him! And learn to praise Him in the storm. Because He will cause the light to shine out of the darkness once again…

Passion?

Is it overrated? Overused? What exactly does passion mean? It’s in the movies. In the romance novels. One meaning for the word passion, as stated in the dictionary, is:  a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept. Seems I’ve always struggled in this area. Does that mean I’m not a passionate person? That I don’t feel strongly? I think I do feel strongly, about a lot of things, but expressing that desire ~ that’s the hard part. But the world’s idea of passion and God’s idea of passion are two different things. We need to not get caught up in our emotions, thinking that is real passion, but we need to get caught up in Jesus. He should be our real passion. Passion for seeing the lost turn to Him. Passion for seeing the captives be set free. Passion for helping the hurting, the homeless and the helpless. That’s the kind of passion we should be seeking. Not Hollywood’s version of it. That’s Disney kind of stuff. Stuff that will let you down and make you cry tears of hopelessness. My prayer is that He will give me a passion for yet more of Him. And to have His heart. To see the world through His eyes. That’s the kind of passion I need.

what images does the word ROCK bring up for you??

To me, the word ROCK means:  Stability. Firm foundation. Unmovable. Reliable. Strength. Powerful. Might. Solid.

And Who calls Himself a ROCK? God Almighty!

Check this out:

Deuteronomy 32:4  He is the Rock. His work is perfect,  for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.

Psalms 18:2  The Lord is my Rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my High Tower.

Psalms 31:3  Yes, You are my Rock and my Fortress; therefore for Your name’s sake lead me and guide me.

Psalms 94:22  But the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

Feeling overwhelmed with troubles? Feeling like your world is on shaky ground? Turn to the ROCK. Our only Hope. Our only firm foundation. He is for you. He loves you. He will see you through!! Trust Him. Even when everything & everyone tells you otherwise.

Out of the darkness

This mornings devotional was about how God has brought us (if we are a believer) out of the darkness and caused us to walk in His Light, later I was looking at one of my poetry books and this poem jumped out at me:

LIGHT SHINING OUT OF DARKNESS ~ William Cowper

God moves in a mysterious way,

His wonders to perform;

He plants His footsteps in the sea,

And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines

Of never failing skill,

He treasures up His bright designs,

And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints fresh courage take;

The clouds ye so much dread

Are big with mercy, and shall break

In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,

But trust Him for His grace;

Behind a frowning providence,

He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,

Unfolding every hour:

The bud may have a bitter taste,

But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err,

And scan His work in vain;

God is His own interpreter,

And He will make it plain.

Broken Inside

Broken dreams

Broken heart

What’s it all about?

Where do I go

When life hurts

When one door after another

slams shut in my life

Makes no sense

Leaves me baffled

Where do I go?

I go to the Rock!!
