during trials…

God’s Word says we are to count it all joy! Imagine! How in the world can we do that?! Easy! (not!!) No, really, the only way is to see the trial we’re experiencing through God’s eyes. See it as an opportunity to trust God yet more. To let Him have one more inch of our crummy flesh. To understand that He will use the trial for our good and His glory if we will but let Him. To learn patience. To learn to praise Him even when it makes no sense. To learn to walk by faith and not by sight. To learn to say no to the devil. Shall I go on? There are heaps of benefits for us when we learn to embrace trials not as our enemy, but as our friend. No need to fret! God is good & He is in control! Believe it! Believe Him! And learn to praise Him in the storm. Because He will cause the light to shine out of the darkness once again…

Passion?

Is it overrated? Overused? What exactly does passion mean? It’s in the movies. In the romance novels. One meaning for the word passion, as stated in the dictionary, is:  a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept. Seems I’ve always struggled in this area. Does that mean I’m not a passionate person? That I don’t feel strongly? I think I do feel strongly, about a lot of things, but expressing that desire ~ that’s the hard part. But the world’s idea of passion and God’s idea of passion are two different things. We need to not get caught up in our emotions, thinking that is real passion, but we need to get caught up in Jesus. He should be our real passion. Passion for seeing the lost turn to Him. Passion for seeing the captives be set free. Passion for helping the hurting, the homeless and the helpless. That’s the kind of passion we should be seeking. Not Hollywood’s version of it. That’s Disney kind of stuff. Stuff that will let you down and make you cry tears of hopelessness. My prayer is that He will give me a passion for yet more of Him. And to have His heart. To see the world through His eyes. That’s the kind of passion I need.

what images does the word ROCK bring up for you??

To me, the word ROCK means:  Stability. Firm foundation. Unmovable. Reliable. Strength. Powerful. Might. Solid.

And Who calls Himself a ROCK? God Almighty!

Check this out:

Deuteronomy 32:4  He is the Rock. His work is perfect,  for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.

Psalms 18:2  The Lord is my Rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my High Tower.

Psalms 31:3  Yes, You are my Rock and my Fortress; therefore for Your name’s sake lead me and guide me.

Psalms 94:22  But the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

Feeling overwhelmed with troubles? Feeling like your world is on shaky ground? Turn to the ROCK. Our only Hope. Our only firm foundation. He is for you. He loves you. He will see you through!! Trust Him. Even when everything & everyone tells you otherwise.

Careful…

I’m just as guilty of this as the next person ~ looking at someone and deciding whether they dress right, act right, say the right things, are worthy of my time & attention, etc., etc. How easy it is to decide against someone just because they aren’t like us! “I wouldn’t wear that!” “I would never say that!” “What a loser he/she is!” But guess what? We don’t have the right to judge someone. Why can’t we just accept people for what they are? Why do we have to think less of them because they aren’t a carbon copy of US? We all do it. Judge. Belittle in our thoughts. Think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. I’ve been in church, standing next to someone and we’re praising & worshipping the Lord, when someone walks in and sits near us. “Look at what she’s wearing. She looks dumb in that.” I can’t imagine that that kind of attitude is pleasing to the Lord. He doesn’t look at the outside. He sees our hearts. Why can’t we do the same?

My prayer is that God would slap me along side my head when I even begin to judge another. Because it is WRONG!!

Love poem in honor of Valentine’s Day!

Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day?  William Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.

Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed;

And every fair from fair sometime declines;

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimmed.

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,

Nor shall Death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st.

  So long as men can breath or eyes can see,

  So long lives this, and this give life to thee.
